Crystal Myths grew out of a London gem desk’s internal checking service, and the method that desk used — patient, photographic, written down — is the one every assessment still follows today.
Single Assessment
One piece assessed end to end: a photograph-by-photograph feature read, the stone families it most resembles with reasoning, and practical care notes — delivered as one written report.

The Multi-Item Package is built for collections: several pieces assessed in one batch, with a shared summary comparing the stones and flagging which ones deserve a closer look.
Photo guidance
Good photographs make good assessments. We send a short shooting guide with every order — daylight, a plain background, a few angles and a scale reference — and review your first photos before payment.
Multi-Item Package
In the multi-item batch you’ll get the same feature-by-feature read as a single assessment, plus practical care notes for each piece and one consolidated summary for the whole set.
What you receive
Every assessment includes follow-up questions by email. If a conclusion needs unpacking, reply to the report and we will answer against your submitted photographs.

Frequently asked questions
What do you need from me to start?
Clear photographs of the piece from a few angles, in daylight if possible, plus anything you know about its history.
A phone camera is enough — no special equipment is required.
Assessments are delivered by email, in English, anywhere in Europe. Assessment Standards Turnaround is typically two to three working days from submission.
For anything urgent, contact us before ordering and we will confirm the timing.
Can you tell me what my stone is worth?
No. We assess visible characteristics and likely stone types — we do not value, appraise or certify. For a formal valuation, we will say so in the report and suggest the right professional to approach.
Is this a certificate?
No. An assessment is a structured, evidence-based written opinion on what your photographs show. It is not a lab certificate, and we never present it as one.
What if the photos are not good enough?
Need an adjustment to use our service — larger print, extra time, or help with photographs? Email our team at info@crystalmyths.uk and we will arrange it at no extra cost. We will tell you — free of charge — exactly which shots would let us continue, before you pay anything.
Do you keep my photographs private?
Yes. Photographs are used only to prepare your assessment and are deleted on request. We never publish client photographs.
Pieces assessed under the multi-item package appear only in your summary, never anywhere public.
