How it works
Frequently asked questions
What do you need from me to start?
Clear photographs of the piece from a few angles, in daylight if possible, plus anything you know about its history.
A phone camera is enough — no special equipment is required.
Assessments are delivered by email, in English, anywhere in Europe. Assessment Standards Turnaround is typically two to three working days from submission.
For anything urgent, contact us before ordering and we will confirm the timing.
Do you assess rough, cut and set stones alike?
Yes — rough crystals, cut stones and mounted jewellery are all assessable, provided the setting leaves enough of the stone visible to photograph.
Mounted pieces carry an honest caveat: what the setting hides, the report cannot describe, and it will say exactly which areas were not visible.
Which stones can you assess?
Most common ones — quartz, amethyst, citrine, tourmaline, topaz, fluorite, calcite, garnet, opal, labradorite, jade and more — plus glass, resin and assembled imitations, which are flagged as such.
Rare or unusual material is welcome too; if a piece sits outside what photographs can reasonably assess, we say so before you pay.
Loose pearls, treated organics and very dark opaque pieces are the usual limits.
How is payment taken?
After the free feasibility check, by card or bank transfer, before the assessment work starts. The price is the published one — it does not change after we see your photos.
How fast is the turnaround?
Standard turnaround is two to three working days from photo approval. Multi-item packages take a day or two longer depending on piece count.
